Apartment SM is the result of a complete renovation of an apartment from the 60's located in Ventas neighborhood of Madrid. The original apartment layout was very fragmented, having three separate bedrooms, a kitchen and a living room. The client wanted to increase the visual perception of spaciousness and brightness of this 65m² apartment. The new design increased the height of the ceilings in the living room, incorporated a large window and created a new kitchen open to the living room, in order to make the space feel larger than it is. The kitchen peninsula is seen from the living room as a clean volume with a grooved surface, hiding the worktop on the other side. The bathroom, located next to the entrance to the apartment, is divided into two areas to make it more functional. The Japanese-inspired panels, which filter the light and accentuate the nuances of the apartment's neutral colors and materials, together with the meticulous details create a feeling of greater space and a minimalist aesthetic.
